When it comes to superhero art, there aren’t many current artists better than BossLogic. The Melbourne-born graphic artist has created some incredible pieces featuring heroes from Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and more. BossLogic’s latest project has him teaming up with Marvel for a Captain Marvel cover.
Marvel previewed the brand-new BossLogic variant for Captain Marvel #16. His cover will be for the 150th issue overall of Carol Danvers’ stories. The story will conclude Kelly Thompson’s “The Last Avenger” arc as Captain Marvel will take on Vox Supreme.
In Captain Marvel #16, following the discovery of her Kree heritage, Captain Marvel will team up with the Avengers to take on Vox Supreme - the villainous combination of Vox from Death of the Inhumans and the Supreme Intelligence. Danvers starts killing Avengers after Vox Supreme threatens to obliterate Earth’s Kree refugee camps. While it seems she’s killing Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, it’s revealed she’s actually taking down S.H.I.E.L.D. clones of The Avengers. Thompson said the 150th issue will showcase by Carol’s such an incredible hero.
The variant marks the first time BossLogic will do a cover for Marvel. The artist called the chance to do a cover a “life milestone achieved.” It’s a well-deserved honor. Frankly, it’s surprising this is the first cover BossLogic has ever done, considering how popular his work is on Instagram and Twitter.
It’s so great that the last issue of our “The Last Avenger” arc is the Legacy 150th issue of Captain Marvel because it’s an issue that really highlights how and why Carol is such an incredible hero, promises Thompson. That she will go to any lengths to save the day…that she NEVER stays down no matter how deep and dark the odds…and that’s been in her since the beginning.
BossLogic’s cover showcases Danvers’ black and red suit and the different sides of Carol. So, while Captain Marvel might be hunting down the Avengers, it’s not exactly as it seems. She’s trying to protect Kree refugees and seemingly using clones to accomplish her goal. Time will tell if tricking Vox Supreme was a good idea. Regardless, we’re excited to seeing BossLogic getting a chance to do a variant for Marvel - let’s hope this is the first of many!
