Captain Marvel is going up against one of the biggest threats she’s ever faced in her comic book career… the stronger, younger version of herself. To make it worse, this new opponent has gained their power by siphoning it off from Carol directly! It isn’t the first time that Carol has seen her powers stolen, but this time Carol has nothing to do but fight, even if it means fighting a version of herself (seriously, Carol can’t catch a break).
In case fans missed out on the latest drama Captain Marvel #9 revealed that Captain Marvel has been losing her powers thanks to a robotic parasite planted Wolverine-style onto her heart. Now she’s realized the second twist, that her powers aren’t just disappearing–they’re being stolen by Marvel’s hottest new superhero, Star. In the first preview pages of Captain Marvel #10, Carol confronts Star to find out what scheme she’s really involved in. Star doesn’t hesitate, even admitting she’s tired of playing the goody-goody hero role. But it won’t be much longer before she can be herself again. But why wait? It’s time for Star to have the people on her side as she totally throws Carol under the bus.
In front of a crowd of civilians who consider Captain Marvel a traitor even as she’s trying to protect them, Carol must fight the powerful hero she used to be, when she possessed her full power set. Will she be able to perform to the best of her ability (which isn’t much currently) as the crowd chants for her to go home? As Star begins unleashing her power, the only thing Carol can hope for is that Star being untrained will make her the more vulnerable fighter – with or without the firepower to back it up. Take a look at the preview pages:
The cover of this issue says it all with a pieced together photo of both Carol Danvers and Star. She has been replaced, in more ways than one, and it’s seemed for weeks that there’s nothing she can do to fix it. First Star made Captain Marvel the most hated hero, and now she is taking her powers. Quite literally. Will Captain Marvel be able to turn things around and start gaining her powers back before it is too late? Or will readers see Star emerge as the new Carol, but stronger and younger? Find out as “Falling Star” Part 3 fills the pages of Captain Marvel #10, and check out the full details and plot synopsis for the issue below:
